AUTHOR WEBSITE PROJECTS

More Than a Book Cover

Take a closer look at supplied website mockups, from adventure to memoir and author branding.

Explore the craft behind the presentation

The supplied portfolio represents a wide range of stories, styles, and intended readers. One cover should not look like every other cover: visual identity changes with genre, tone, audience, and the book’s central promise. Browse the gallery to compare how typography, color, imagery, and composition create different first impressions.

Genre signals

A military suspense cover uses a different visual language from a reflective memoir or a leadership guide.

Readable hierarchy

A title, subtitle, and author name should remain purposeful at both large viewing size and storefront thumbnail size.

Digital and physical use

A design may need separate adaptations for eBook thumbnails, print cover spreads, website banners, and promotional images.

Author identity

A collection of book covers can be tied together with consistent author branding without forcing every project into the same template.

Portfolio notes and permissions

These are the client-supplied cover images provided for the Indie Publishers website project. Project descriptions should stay factual and should not imply particular sales achievements, distribution status, or publication dates without confirmation. Any retailer buttons can be added after the correct book URLs are supplied.

  • Want to feature a book prominently? Confirm the approved title, author attribution, rights, and thumbnail.
  • Need a clickable case study? Gather the project brief, services delivered, approved visuals, and a short verified explanation.
  • Need a retailer link? Use the exact product page rather than a generic store homepage.
  • Need an author testimonial? Obtain permission for the quote and display name before publication.

The portfolio can grow into a detailed case-study library as project information is verified.

What a case study can tell a prospective author

A cover image can demonstrate design, but a complete case study tells the story of a creative decision. It could explain what readership the designer considered, which format was prepared, whether the book required illustrations or a special layout, and what type of handover took place.

We will not imply that a cover achieved particular sales or an award without documented evidence. A responsible project page can still be informative: include the original brief with permission, key production challenges, a concise account of the creative direction, and accurately credited images.

For visitors who want to evaluate author website design, the separate gallery shows the range of visual environments possible for different genres. It is appropriate to treat a website mockup as a design preview until live functionality and ownership are confirmed.

  • Verify book title, author credit, and permission to display artwork.
  • Specify the services actually provided for the project when confirmed.
  • Use real retailer URLs only after checking their destination.
  • Do not create fictional reviews, awards, or author sales figures.
